Betty Blogger - Summary

I am doing this early as I leave next week for England.

I learned about a lot of things I didn't know existed. I found the Library Lady blog posts very humorous, but I would have preferred step-by-step directions.  I found some of the topics difficult and the directions given were not sufficient.

The drop-ins are a great idea, but better instructions would have made dropping by not so critical.

I would recommend this to a friend as I'm not sure that I could adequately explain it to someone else.

Looks like a fabulous tool and I will definitely use again.

Betty Blogger Week #8

I have subscribed to Julia Crane, diabetes news from medical news today and book club girl.

The reader is easy to use and I think that I will continue with it.

Betty Blogger Week #7 - Wikis

I am unable to attend the party as I will be in England.

I sort of get the idea of wikis, but didn't find it particularly easy or feel that I would use it.

Betty Blogger Week #7

When I was first married we had my brother-in-law and his wife over for dinner.  I had
to work that day so I picked a new, never made before recipe to try.  It looked so easy. I just had
to make meatballs and cook them in the slow cooker.  Everything looked good until we ate the meatballs. They were the most dry and tasteless things I have ever eaten.

I never, ever make an untried recipe to serve company.

The associated tags are:  pier, moonrise, lighthouses, north, duluth.

Great site, I will continue to use it.

Betty Blogger Week #4

I have chosen not to open a Twitter account. I have no desire to "tweet" my moment-moment thoughts and
have trouble believing that anyone is interested in all the minutiae. It seems like something a narcissist would enjoy.

I do however participate and enjoy  facebook, but guard my privacy and restrict whom will see it.

Hacking and spam are serious concerns and just in today's Toronto Star paper was an article on how a SWAT team was sent to a family's home by hacking and VOIP. I find these kinds of things very disturbing.

Betty Blogger Week #3

I booked the following in Diigo: the Breast Cancer Site, bettyblogger, sympatico, and pga,

I used the following tags: breast, cancer, "web summer school", weather, sports and golf.

Not sure if I will continue to use, bookmarks on the computer are more convenient. This is good for multiple
computers but awkward to input the URL.

I had alot of difficulty with this task. Detailed instructions would have been helpful. I was trying to
use Diigolet to bookmark and tag from the original page(that I wanted bookmarked). Instead I got a bookmark in the taskbar with no tags.  The help video wasn't working properly and I finally had to get my husband (with
a computer science degree) to help me. Another thing not mentioned - in order to copy the URL it
must be done before you open up diggolet and use "add a bookmark", otherwise you get a beep and
nothing will be done.

Having to open multiple windows to complete the task isn't very convenient either.

Betty Blogger Week #2

Dancing Dog video

More complicated searching YouTube than I anticipated.

I think that it has become popular with the number of smart phones available and a person's
need to "show off".

The how-to videos, informational videos and humorous videos are good. The book and movie
tie-ins are helpful, but there seem to be alot of idiot's out there.

If  I see a link to a video that looks interesting or a topic I'm interested in I will use it. However
I've better things to do with my time than randomly search YouTube.

Betty Blogger Week #1

I'm not sure what you mean by web 2.0.  I use the Internet for research, addresses and phone numbers,
and occasionally watch TV shows that I've missed. I am on facebook but am a newbie.

As far as blogging, twitter, and links I'd say I am a 2/10.

I'm excited to increase my knowledge.
